About Us

Rob’s mechanical career began back in the 1970’s where he initially qualified as a mechanic working on Saabs and Volkswagens. His experience quickly broadened to incorporate motorbike mechanics, as he spent three years working with Suzuki GB. The following decade saw Rob establish himself as a multifaceted mechanic, working for Tyrrell Engineering, Wallasey, where he restored, rebuilt, and tuned classic, vintage and high performance vehicles. In 1998 Rob was selected as one of the first engineers to operate from the start in the opening of "Road Range," West kirby. Promoted several times, Rob fulfilled various positions: Head Technician, Foreman, Diagnostic Technician, and finally Service Team manager, a role in which he obtained the internationally recognised C Service qualification in 2007. His career at Road Range saw him complete many specialist Mercedes-Benz courses both here in the UK and abroad. In 2009, Rob entered into partnership with Steve, and MB-Wirral was born! In his spare time Rob likes to go fishing.

Steve’s career as a mechanic began in the early 1990’s. He was employed by Road Range in 1994, becoming a fully qualified technician in 1999. He was promoted within the company to Service Team manager in 2004, completed many specialist Mercedes-Benz courses both in the UK and Germany, and he also received the internationally recognised C service qualification in 2007. In 2009 Steve combined his skill set with Rob and they created MB-Wirral. Steve enjoys playing golf and travelling abroad in his spare time.

Dave has over 20 years' experience in the motor trade, a significant number of these with Mercedes-Benz where he was part of the Wirral Mercedes team, West Kirby until its closure in 2009. Following this he worked for a local garage before returning to Mercedes-Benz, this time at the Liverpool dealership. More recently, in 2018, Dave joined the team here at MB Wirral. During his time with Mercedes, Dave attained several qualifications which provided an extensive knowledge, specifically in Mercedes parts, components & systems. When visiting MB Wirral, Dave is likely to be the first to greet you, so it will be reassuring to know that he particularly enjoys the customer service aspects of his role, being able to assist with issues relating to your vehicle and getting to meet (& speak to) new & returning customers every day. In Dave’s spare time he enjoys travelling and entertaining his two young children.

Josh started at MB-Wirral in July 2021. He is currently studying NVQ automotive care level 2. Josh enjoys playing rugby for Hoylake and fixing motorbikes in his spare time.

Liam’s career began in 2006 at Westbourne Motors and in 2014 he was awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year’ whilst completing his Level 3 Advanced apprenticeship. In the same year Liam was also awarded the ‘Freeman and Guilds of the City of Chester Award’. Liam continued his career as a qualified technician working on various vehicles, furthering his knowledge, before joining the MB-Wirral team in 2021. In his spare time, Liam is a crew member for West Kirby Lifeboats as well as the station mechanic and a launch vehicle driver.
